Lions-Vikings Announcer Fires Back At Critical Tweets, Expletives Included

CBS DETROIT - Play-by-play broadcaster Mike Goldberg, who usually calls UFC matches, had a hard time in his NFL debut Sunday. Probably the most memorable gaffe was his reference to Detroit Lions wide receiver Golden Tate as a Minnesota Viking.

For that mistake and several others, Goldberg was the subject of plenty of negative tweets. Unlike many public figures, though, Goldberg did not go the route of ignoring the criticism of random people on the Internet.

Goldberg's first response to an unflattering tweet was rather tame: "I hope you never waste my time again." Later in the same conversation, Goldberg calls a collection of posters "d-----."

To one tweet, Goldberg simply responded, "Dude F--- you."

Goldberg has nearly 100,000 followers on Twitter. As of 2:15 p.m. Monday, he had not deleted the profane tweets. According to Yahoo, Goldberg is scheduled to call the Vikings-Bills game this Sunday.

Yahoo also noted that Goldberg's resume includes more than UFC; he has also called college football, college and the Red Wings, and the oh-so-prestigious Lingerie Bowl.
