2 Killed In Wrong-Way Crash On I-94 In Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities say two people have died after being involved in a head-on collision on I-94.

Michigan State Police and the Macomb County Sheriff's Department responded to the crash just before 8 p.m. Tuesday on westbound I-94 near Metro Parkway in Harrison Township.

Police say 72-year-old Larry McCullough, of Eastpointe, was heading east in the westbound lanes of the freeway when he crashed head-on into another vehicle, driven by 41-year-old Aaron Skiba, of Macomb Township.

McCullough was declared dead at the scene. Skiba, who had to be extracted from his vehicle, later died at an area hospital.

Investigators say it appears McCullough was driving under the influence because his car apparently smelled of alcohol.

The freeway was closed for almost three hours, but has since reopened.
