Slippery Rock Falls In Spotlight Game At The Big House, 45-23, To Mercyhurst

ANN ARBOR (AP) — Brendan Boylan threw four touchdown passes and Mercyhurst upset Slippery Rock 45-23 on Saturday in the Big House Battle.

Boylan completed 24 of 37 for 385 yards, while Brandon Brown-Dukes had 106 yards on 25 carries.

It was the third time Slippery Rock has hosted a game at Michigan Stadium, home of the University of Michigan. The announcement of Slippery Rock scores at the Big House during Michigan games started in 1959 as an attempt at humor, but has become one of the school's enduring traditions. Slippery Rock hosted its first game in Ann Arbor against Shippensburg in 1979 and the second in 1981 against Wayne State, losing both.

Slippery Rock (5-2) ran up a 17-7 score in early in the second quarter but Mercyhurst (3-4) came roaring back with Boylan completing touchdown passes to four different receivers.

Official attendance in the 109,901 capacity stadium was 15,121.
