Man Sentenced To Life In Prison In Murder Of Farmington Hills Party Store Owner

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A 44-year-old man will spend the rest of his life behind bars for the murder of a popular Farmington Hills party store owner.

Convicted by an Oakland County Circuit Court jury on Sept. 18, Cassalle Nettles was sentenced on Monday to mandatory life in prison without parole in the death of 59-year-old Duraid "Dave" Lossia.

A customer found Lossia lying in a pool of blood Dec. 28, 2013 behind the counter of Tom's Party Store on Inkster near 8 Mile Road.

Lossia, who was shot in the face, was declared dead at the scene.

Nettles was arrested two days after the killing. Police say Nettles' fingerprints were recovered on several items left behind at the store. He was also caught on security cameras at area businesses around the time of the crime.

Michigan Department of Corrections records show Nettles lengthy criminal history includes armed robbery, drug and weapons convictions in Oakland County.  He left prison in 2011 after serving 13 years.
