Tate: "I Didn't Get Punched In The Face, That's All A Lie"

I think it's safe to say that the Lions wouldn't have beaten the Saints and moved to 5-2 on the season without the help of receiver Golden Tate. Tate has been terrific for the Lions this season and yesterday he was outstanding as he helped Detroit come back from a 13 point deficit with about four minutes to play. Tate finished the game with 10 receptions for 154 yards and a touchdown that brought the Lions within six points late in the game.

After the win Tate addressed the media about his day, the win and the team's great start.

Unfortunately for the receiver, he was also asked about multiple stories that surfaced saying he had been punched in the face by former teammate Percy Harvin, who was traded to the Jets over the weekend.

According to reports, Harvin punched Tate in an altercation before last year's Super Bowl leaving the now Lions wide out with a black eye. "That's something that Seattle has to deal with," Tate said during the media scrum. "I don't want to draw attention to this organization over some things that happened in the past."

Tate did acknowledge how unfortunate it was that his named was brought up after Harvin was traded. "It's all a drama and people need something to talk about," Tate said. "It's unfortunate what people are having to deal with who aren't involved."

It was clear the receiver was not saying if the reports were true or not until a reporter gave it one last shot and approached him as he was walking away -- and no one else was around. Tate was asked again, and this time he answered saying, "I didn't get punched in the face, that's all a lie."

Whether Tate was punched or not, one thing seems to be clear...at the least the Detroit receiver is totally annoyed with the now Jets wide out.

So who do you believe?
