Lead In Race For Governor Flip-Flops In Favor Of Snyder

DETROIT (WWJ) - In just a few weeks, Governor Rick Snyder has turned around a two-point deficit to challenger Mark Schauer into a six-point lead.

Now, with the election two weeks away, Bernie Porn with EPIC/MRA says the Democrats are pulling out all the stops with former President Bill Clinton in Michigan Wednesday and President Obama visiting prior to the election.

In late September Schauer held a lead over Snyder and according to polls the Snyder jump in polls comes mostly from Democrats.

Has Schauer's campaign message missed the target audience?

"If they can find something that is more compelling to the independent voter, but probably what they are spending an enormous amount of time on right now is geared toward trying to get out the vote," said Porn.

He says the Democrats are reaching deep in their political drawing power pockets calling in the former commander-in-chief and Mr. Obama.

Porn says that the incoming politicians may have a very segmented impact.

"Among independent voters, but Obama will probably have more impact among certainly African Americans and those voters who turned out for him in the presidential election year," adds Porn, "... and maybe use them for such tactics as robo calls, being on mailings that would go into areas where they need to maximize turnout or maybe even doing advertising. "

The U.S. Senate race still shows Democrat Gary Peters with a sizable lead over Republican Terry Lynn Land.
