Macomb County Judge Revisits '09 Sub Shop Abduction

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ/AP) - Two young men are returning to a Macomb County court for new sentences in the murder of a man who was abducted outside a sub shop in 2009.

Ihab Maslamani was 17 and Robert Taylor was 16 when Matt Landry was killed. They were automatically sentenced to life in prison without parole. But because of their age at the time, a judge must give them another hearing Tuesday and Wednesday and decide whether a lighter punishment is appropriate.

Masalmani and Taylor still could get no-parole sentences. The hearing is a result of a U.S. Supreme Court decision about minors and murder.

Landry, 21, was abducted from outside a Quiznos shop in Eastpointe in 2009. Prosecutors say Landry was held for four days before he was shot in the head. His body was later found inside a burned-out vacant house in Detroit. Police said he was a random target.
