Lions' Fairley, Falcons' Carimi And Smith Injured

LONDON (AP) — Detroit Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley injured his right knee Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons and was ruled out for the game, dealing a blow to the Lions' league-leading pass rush.

The Falcons' already depleted offensive line also took a hit as starting right tackle Gabe Carimi injured his ankle late in the first half. The Falcons said his return was questionable.

Later, the Falcons also lost one of their backup running backs, Antone Smith, to a neck injury. He was ruled out for the game.

And starting Falcons defensive tackle Paul Soliai was knocked out of the game in the fourth quarter with a neck injury. His return was listed as questionable.

Fairley was injured as he hit Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan on a 3rd-down pass play that was incomplete. Lions teammate Ndamukong Suh, rushing Ryan from the other side, crashed into Fairley.

After falling awkwardly, Fairley clutched his right knee and was noticeably limping as he was helped off the field.
