Detroit Metro Airport Runway Reopens After Tires Burst

ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - A runway at Detroit Metropolitan Airport has reopened after the bursting of two tires on a landing plane closed it for several hours.

No injuries were reported after US Airways flight 2088 from Charlotte, North Carolina, landed Monday night at the airport in Romulus.

US Airways spokesman Casey Norton tells The Detroit News that the 136 passengers and five crew members were bused to the airport gate. The cause of the ruptures is under investigation.

Airport spokesman Mike Conway says the runway closed Monday night while crews checked for debris and possible pavement damage. It reopened Monday afternoon.
