Halloween Store Manager Who Allegedly Faked Robbery Faces Charges

CANTON (WWJ) - An Ann Arbor man who claimed he was the victim of a holdup is now facing charges in the an alleged robbery.

Police say Jeramy Matthews, who was working as a manager at Halloween City in Canton, told investigators that he was robbed at knife-point as he was transporting a cash bank deposit that belonged to the store.

Investigators believe Matthews made up whole story to cover up the fact that he stole the money himself.

Matthews was arraigned Tuesday in 35th District Court on felony charges of embezzlement, larceny and filing a false police report. Bond was set at $10,000/10 percent.

He's scheduled to appear again in court for a preliminary hearing on Friday, Nov. 14.
