Detroit Mother Found Dead After Failing To Pick Up Kids From School

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police say a 32-year-old woman was found fatally shot inside her home after she failed to pick up her kids from school.

Police say Tiffany Couch was found dead around 7:45 p.m. Thursday in the basement of her home in the 10500 block of W. Outer Drive, near Evergreen Road on the city's northwest side.

Couch's body was discovered by her children's father, who allegedly went to her house after she failed to pick the kids up from school.

Authorities haven't released any other details, except to say Couch was shot to death.

Police have questioned the children's father, although they say he's not considered a suspect.

A neighbor reportedly told police she heard a scream and a gunshot sometime Thursday afternoon, but she didn't think to report it at the time.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact police at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
