Woman Shot During Confrontation With Ann Arbor Police Identified
ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - Authorities have identified the 40-year-old woman who was fatally shot when she allegedly confronted officers with a knife in Ann Arbor.
Police said Aura Rosser was shot shortly before midnight Sunday after officers responded to a domestic disturbance report at a home in the 2000 block of Winewood, near Liberty and Stadium.
Rosser was shot once and pronounced dead at the scene. In an interview with The Ann Arbor News, police declined to say where on her body she was struck. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
Rosser's boyfriend Victor Stephens, said they were fighting and he wanted police to remove Rosser from the house but lethal force wasn't justified.
Ann Arbor Police requested the Michigan State Police investigate the incident. In a release, the department said that "this type of request of the MSP is normal so that it ensures an unbiased, fair, and impartial review of the facts surrounding this incident."
When the investigation is complete, state police will submit their findings to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office for review..
