Study: Tattoo-Removal Lasers Could Help Reduce Acne Scarring

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) -- Many people show up in the doctor's office to have unwanted tattoos lasered off and now it looks like those same lasers may have other health uses.

It turns out that the type of laser which is FDA approved for tattoo removal appears to improve scarring on the face caused by acne.

In this small study, doctors found that after six treatments with the laser, patients were satisfied with the appearance and texture of their skin.

The results continued three months after that final treatment. The study is published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Dermatology.
