3-Year-Old Girl Found Walking Alone On Sidewalk In Pontiac; Parents May Face Charges

PONTIAC (WWJ) -- A 3-year-old girl was found wandering by herself in Pontiac on Thursday and police are now deciding if charges will be filed.

Police were dispatched to the area of E. Walton Blvd. and Grandville after someone called saying that a small child was walking alone on the sidewalk. Police arrived to find the caller with the child, who could not provide her name or information about where she lived.

Officials transported the child to St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital, where hospital staff evaluated the child's condition and confirmed that she was in good health.

Police located the child's mother, who said that the father had been watching over the child. It was later found out that the father had taken the child to the apartment of his girlfriend, where he had been asleep the entire time the child was missing and was unaware the child was gone or how she left the home.

Detectives are working with Child Protective Services to investigate what possible charges may be filed.
