Charities Across Michigan Participate In Giving Tuesday

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - After families filled their stomachs on Thanksgiving, and shoppers filled their bags on Black Friday, charities are hoping people will donate on #GivingTuesday.

According to the Giving Tuesday website, the effort is a simple way for families, communities, companies and organizations "to come together to give something more."

Many of the companies participating in the effort have set up secure webpages for donations.

Some local charities taking part in Giving Tuesday include:

 

Additionally, the CVS Health Foundation announced that two Michigan organizations were among the 50 nationwide that are receiving a total of $100,000 in grants for #GivingTuesday. The two which received grants are:

  • Greater Lansing Food Bank which provides emergency food to individuals and families in need in Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee, Clare, Isabella and Gratiot counties.
  • VSA of Southeast Michigan which provides access and opportunities for children and adults with disabilities so they may experience growth through the arts.
