Valenti And Foster Weigh In: What's Next For U-M After Brady Hoke's Firing?

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) Brady Hoke is officially out as Michigan's head football coach.

And Mike Valenti, co-host of the Valenti & Foster show on 97.1 The Ticket, can't get enough of the drama surrounded the long-beleaguered coach.

Who's the replacement -- Les Miles? Jim Harbaugh? Bill Snyder?

Interim Athletic Director Jim Hackett wouldn't go into any particulars about the impending coach search, except to say a headhunting firm would be involved.

"Listen, you haven't had a quarterback since Lloyd left ... The worst mistake they made was playing Denard at the beginning," Valenti said about Hoke's downfall.

Valenti added Hoke was running a "cheap, welfare version of the Rich Rod" game.

The audience weighed in, texting things to the show, including "Harbaugh or bust."

"Screw Harbaugh for now," another one chimed in. "Calling it now, Rex Ryan," another said.

Caller Jim said, "I don't want to settle for Les ... Nobody's mentioned Sean Payton."

Valenti accused him of hitting grandma's medicine cabinet.

Valenti is pulling hard for Harbaugh, but said "no NFL coach who's won a Superbowl is going to return to college ... no to the no."

"That's just delusion (for) Michigan fans," the host said.

Too harsh? Valenti pointed out Hoke will earn $120,000 a month for the next 25 months and get another $1.5 million payment in 30 days.

"Don't cry for me Argentina, you could launch me out of a cannon for $2 million," Valenti said.
