CBS DETROIT - Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been taken to the hospital following a serious car crash, according to the Charlotte Observer. It is being reported by WBTV in Charlotte that Newton escaped injury.

Newton's truck, on the other hand, suffered plenty. Newton was loaded onto a stretcher and into an ambulance, though WBTV reported that was only a precautionary measure. Jonathan Jones of the Observer tweeted several photos and videos of the aftermath of Newton's crash.

The Detroit Lions played the Panthers in their second game of the season and lost, 24-7. Newton completed 22 of 34 passes for 281 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers currently have a record of 4-8-1.
