Identity Of Officer Who Fatally Shot Woman Released
ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) -- Michigan State Police are continuing their investigation into a deadly Ann Arbor police shooting and have released the name of the officer involved.
David Reid, a 15-year veteran with the department, has been on administrative leave since the shooting early last month. According to police, Reid responded to a domestic dispute call, where he shot and killed 40-year-old Aura Rosser after they say she confronted officers with a knife at her home.
Rosser was shot once and pronounced dead at the scene.
Rosser's boyfriend Victor Stephens, said they were fighting and he wanted police to remove Rosser from the house but lethal force wasn't justified.
Ann Arbor Police requested the Michigan State Police investigate the incident. In a release, the department said that "this type of request of the MSP is normal so that it ensures an unbiased, fair, and impartial review of the facts surrounding this incident."
When the investigation is complete, state police will submit their findings to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office for review.
