Funeral Set For Longtime Anchorman Bill Bonds

DETROIT (AP) — A funeral service is scheduled Friday for iconic Detroit broadcaster Bill Bonds.

His longtime employer, WXYZ-TV, reported that the former reporter and anchor died Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He was 82.

Visitation is Thursday at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home in Clawson. A sharing of memories service is 7:30 p.m. Thursday. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Name Catholic Church in Birmingham. A visitation at the church starts an hour earlier.

Bonds attended the University of Detroit and began his journalism career in radio before becoming interested in a TV broadcasting career. He was inducted in 2010 into the Michigan Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
