Police: At Least 6 Hurt In Car-Buggy Crash

ARTHUR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say at least six people were injured when a horse-drawn buggy was hit by a car in Clare County.

The sheriff's department says the crash happened Sunday night in Arthur Township, about 130 miles northwest of Detroit.

The department says a 22-year-old man rear-ended the buggy, which had nine people inside.

The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant reports that a man and woman, both 34, and three children were taken to a Saginaw hospital for treatment. The hospitalized children are 8 months old, 5 years old and 10 years old. Clare County Undersheriff Dwayne Miedzianowski says a 4-year-old girl also was treated for injuries.

Details about the extent of their injuries weren't immediately released.

The newspaper reports that the horse pulling the buggy was euthanized.

The department says alcohol and foggy weather conditions are believed to be factors in the crash, which is under investigation.

No arrests have been made.
