Detroit Police Seek Suspects In 'Family Dollar' Robberies

DETROIT (WWJ) -- The Detroit Police Department is asking the public's help in identifying two individuals wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies of Family Dollars on Detroit's West Side.

On November 16, two suspects entered the Family Dollar store located in the 10100 block of W. Seven Mile who were wearing all dark clothing with bandannas over their faces.

The suspects are described as black males in their late teens to early-20s, approximately 5-foot-8, 130 pounds with a small build. They are to be considered armed and dangerous.

One of the suspects was armed with a hand gun and ordered the clerk to open the register drawer. After the clerk was unable to open the register, one of the suspects jumped over the counter and attempted to open it himself but was unsuccessful.

The suspects then fled the location on foot in an unknown direction, empty-handed. On December 11, individuals matching the same description entered the Family Dollar located in the 19800 block of Joy Road with a third suspect.

Two of the suspects jumped over the counter and grabbed the cash drawers while the third robbed a patron who was standing in line. The three suspects then fled on foot from that location with the cash drawers in hand.

On December 17 in the 14000 block of Telegraph, the suspects entered into the Family Dollar Store at that location armed with a gun. One of the suspects jumped over the counter and stole the cash box from the register. Both suspects then fled the store on foot and then entered into a vehicle that was waiting outside.

Anyone who has seen these suspects or has any information concerning these incidents, please contact Detroit Police at 313-596-5640 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP.
