Freezing Rain, Snow Hit Metro Detroit

DETROIT (WWJ) - Old Man Winter has invaded metro Detroit.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, now in effect until noon Saturday for Lenawee, Livingston, Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

Forecasters say a mix of snow and freezing rain that developed near the Ohio border is spreading northward, bringing light snow and freezing rain.

Periods of heavy sleet and freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

Snowfall accumulations are expected to be minor Saturday, but that could change come next week. Temperatures are going to drop to the teens Monday with snow showers throughout the day.
