Cadillac Introduces The 'Most Powerful Product' In Company History

DETROIT (CBS DETROIT) - Cadillac introduced its newest car in the V-series which has a stylish exterior with a powerful engine.

The CTS-V unveiled at the North American Auto Show features 640 horsepower, a top speed of 200 miles per hour and the ability to go from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds.

"The V-series represents the very best of the Cadillac brand," said Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac president. "It's the leading edge our design, performance and technology."

He added that the car is the most powerful product in the 112-year history of the company. In addition to the element of speed and power, the car features high performance brake system, integrated chassis control and safety and parking technologies.

The introduction of the CTS-V comes as a company, Cadillac saw global sales increase five percent to about 264,000 units in 2014 with record sales in China of 74,000 units, de Nysschen said.

"This 112-year-old brand is reinventing itself,"  said de Nysschen, who added that V-series is attracting younger, affluent and enthusiastic buyers. "At Cadillac, we dare greatly. For that is the Cadillac way."

The CTS-V is expected to launch in late summer 2015.
