14-Year-Old Boy Dies After Falling Through Ice

GRAND HAVEN TWP. (WWJ/AP) - Authorities say a 14-year-old boy has died after he apparently fell through ice in western Michigan.

An Ottawa County Sheriff's deputy on Tuesday found Carter Dyke, of Grand Haven Township, submerged beneath the ice in Millhouse Bayou. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The boy's parents had earlier organized a search party and called deputies when he didn't return from walking from their home that day.

The deputy who found Carter was walking a route the boy would have taken between his home and a gas station.

Authorities believe Cater drowned.
