Uber Offering Free Cadillac Rides During Auto Show Previews

By Edward Cardenas

DETROIT (CBS Detroit) - Cadillac has an impressive display with the car company's latest vehicles inside Cobo Center for the North American International Auto Show.

While the display has the vehicles on a static display, auto show attendees don't get a feel for how the cars ride on Detroit roads or how comfortable a car's climate control system can make the vehicle feel on a near-zero day.

To give those attending the industry days, or the charity preview, a first-hand experience of riding in a Cadillac, the company has teamed up with ride-on-demand service Uber to provide free rides in downtown Detroit.

Uber users can get an exclusive ride in 2015 and 2014 Cadillac CTS, XTS and SRX downtown.

Each vehicle has a capacity of four persons, and the ride duration is limited to 15 minutes  in downtown, Corktown and Midtown at these times:

  • 7 a.m. - 1o p.m. Wednesday and Thursday
  • 4 - 11 p.m. Friday

Uber users can request the #UberCADILLAC ride by opening the ride sharing app and select the "Cadillac" option. Users then set their location and tap "Request." Within a few minutes, a Cadillac will pull up to the location of the user and the ride begins.
