Indiana Governor Connects With Industry Officials During Auto Show

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has met with several auto industry executives during a trip to Detroit for the 2015 North American International Auto Show.

The governor's office says Pence met Thursday with General Motors CEO Mary Barra and officials of other companies, including Honda, Subaru and Toyota.

Pence also talked with leaders of two auto parts companies from Italy that announced plans Thursday for new Indiana operations.

Fiat Group supplier OMR says it will open its North American headquarters in Speedway, where it plans to have 60 workers by next year. Sirmax says it plans on spending some $25 million for a production facility in Anderson with up to 50 workers by 2020.

The governor's office says the auto industry directly employs more than 124,000 people in Indiana.
