"The Wedding Ringer" Will Ring In The Laughs

DETROIT (WWJ) – Kevin Hart is one busy guy. In addition to "The Wedding Ringer," out this weekend, he already has two more films slated for release this year: "Get Hard," opposite Will Ferrell and "Ride Along 2," the sequel to the blockbuster film released one year ago. And with "The Wedding Ringer," he's off to a good start.

Hart is a best man for hire in "The Wedding Ringer." He stars as Jimmy Callahan, the owner and CEO of Best Man, Inc., a company providing the ultimate in best man services.

Surprisingly, as funny and outrageous as this film is, the idea behind it is not far-fetched at all.

The script was co-written by Jeremy Garelick, who also directed and executive produced. It came about, he says, after receiving a phone call from someone he knew back in high school who called to ask him to be a part of his wedding party. Without really thinking, Garelick says he accepted. Being young, he went to the wedding for the food and the girls, and while there realized that the groom didn't have any friends. Being an artist, the idea for "The Wedding Ringer" was born.

Starring opposite Hart is Josh Gad, who portrays Doug Harris, a groom-to-be desperately in need of not just a best man, but SEVEN groomsmen. Harris hires Callahan to pull off the biggest charade of his career and the results are absolutely hilarious.

Joining Hart and Gad in this laugh-out-loud comedy are Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting as Doug's bride-to-be, the spoiled Gretchen Palmer, Ken Howard, Cloris Leachman, Jenifer Lewis, Mimi Rogers and Olivia Thirlby. Comedian Affion Crockett is featured as one of Callahan's ragtag groomsmen.

"The Wedding Ringer" is one excellent reason to head to the theater this weekend. And take your funny bone with you. You'll need it.

See you at the movies!
