Pint-sized Ping Pong Player Push Video Gets Thug Life Treatment

The mood took an unexpected turn during a youth table tennis match. This video surfaced back in November, but now it's got a new hilarious spin on it. (pun intended)

The pusher in this case is Dmitry Melnichenko and he's playing in the Kalashnikov Tournament in Russia. He loses the match, does the sportsman-like thing to shake his opponents hand, but that's when things went wrong. Catching the pint-sized official off guard, the Melnichenko shoves the him off his high chair faster than a topspin forehand.

The video has seen new life as the latest edition of the Internet meme known as "Unexpected Thug Life".

There's probably an accepted description of this phenomenon, but here's a quick breakdown. A video segment involving two or more parties is edited to highlight a devastating comeback or action that comes from an unusual source, usually followed by a deadpan stare or wry grin. The words "Thug Life" appear on screen and a selection of 90s gangsta rap fades in.

You have to love how the crowd is caught completely off guard as well. Nobody saw it coming. Melnichenko might want to start playing poker, because nobody saw that emotion boiling just below the surface.
