You Can Engineer Your Dream At This Factory

NORTHVILLE (WWJ) - Ever dream about turning one of your ideas into a business? As WWJ's Mike Campbell reports, there's a building on Cady Street, in Northville, where that dream can come true for tinkers, hobbyists and inventors, as early as this spring.

"For a few hundred dollars you can have an office and access to your factory," says Chris McDonald co-owner of Village Workshop.

McDonald likes to dream and with the help of partners Dennis Engerer and Brian Donovan, the trio want to help others build their dreams.

It's a Maker's Faire - type place with all the tools you could need to build something by hand, create something from an idea.

"We have everything from oscillating sanders to lathes" and so much more to create your dream.

McDonald says that memberships are selling quickly at the workshop: "I guarantee someone in here is going to make something that is going to be a successful business."

And if you want to make it a business, there's rent-able rolling, locking cubicles -- which they happened to have made themselves.

"So we're going to rent these out - very inexpensive - so you can get a couple of people together, get an idea, some expertise, and this will be your headquarters for now and you get your project up and running. Then you go off and get your own office and manufacturing facility."

Donovan says Maker's space like the Village Workship are popping up across the country, because, he says, every one has an idea, everyone can be an inventor.
