Pat Caputo: 3 Reasons Michigan At MSU Sunday Is Still Relevant

DETROIT (97.1 THE TICKET) - Michigan and Michigan State are not only unranked, neither team received a single point in the latest AP Poll. Yet, when the two teams meet Super Bowl Sunday in East Lansing, it will still mean a lot. These are three reasons why:

1. Both teams have a legitimate shot at reaching the NCAA tournament. A loss or victory Sunday will provide a huge swing either way for both squads.

2. Wisconsin is likely going to win the Big Ten regular season title, and Maryland has already defeated MSU twice, but reality is, the spots behind the Badgers remain wide open in the conference race. And despite some dismal non-conference losses suffered by both the Wolverines and Spartans, a second- or third-place finish in the Big Ten race would likely not only mean a spot in the Big Dance, but a good seed.

3. It's Michigan vs. MSU. Enough said.
