Connecting Job Seekers And Employers Through Virtual Job Fair

DETROIT (WWJ) - The state of Michigan is preparing to host its largest virtual career fair.

Since 2012 job seekers and Michigan employers connect with each other through the state's Pure Michigan Talent Connect.

This month's fair will feature 345 jobs through 50 Michigan employers in varying industries reports WWJ's Jason Scott.

Amy Cell is with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. She says there are four fairs scheduled for 2015.

"We have everyone from Whirlpool to Quicken (Loans) to Belle Tire to Boyne USA an amazing assortment and opportunities," said Cell.

"This is an opportunity to connect with a network with 50 employers around the state," she said.

The virtual job fair is Wednesday, February 11,  and is free to job seekers.

"You log-in, you create an account and then you can go through the virtual environment, stopping at virtual booths where employers are situated," said Cell.

After logging into the career fair, she says employers are available to talk to...virtually. "You can do online chatting with them, as well as learn about them, read ... about the job opportunities they have and submit your resume online."

The four scheduled job fairs throughout the year:

February 11 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
May 13 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m
August 12 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m
November 4  from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m
