CBS DETROIT - By the end of the day, Jim Harbaugh will have announced his first class of recruits as the new head coach of Michigan. The university hired Harbaugh away from the San Francisco 49ers, whom Harbaugh led to three straight NFC championship games from 2011 to 2013. While Harbaugh's name is expected to give Michigan more cachet on the recruiting trail in the long term, this offseason the staff has been scrambling to bring in players because of the timing of the hiring.

So far the following players have made it official with Michigan:

One freshman with a chance to make an immediate impact will be quarterback Alex Malzone. Since he enrolled early, he can participate in spring practice, which should give him an edge in the competition for the starting job. With the graduation of Devin Gardner, the Wolverines have no established starter at quarterback. Shane Morris, a junior, and Wilton Speight, a redshirt freshman, will also be competing for the job.
