CBS DETROIT - As a true freshman in 2013, then-Houston quarterback John O'Korn earned Rookie of the Year honors from the American Athletic Conference. After a disappointing sophomore season in which he was replaced as the starter, O'Korn is reportedly headed to play for Michigan.

The University of Houston confirmed in mid-January that O'Korn would be transferring, according to the Houston Chronicle, and the paper reported O'Korn had received permission to talk with Texas, TCU, Wisconsin and Florida.

Freshmen Alex Malzone and Zach Gentry, redshirt freshman Wilton Speight and junior Shane Morris will compete for Michigan's starting job this season. O'Korn has to sit out this year but could challenge for the spot in 2016.

As a freshman, O'Korn completed 58.1 percent of his passes and threw for 3,117 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. As a sophomore, his completion percentage dropped to 52.0, and he threw for 951 yards, six touchdowns and eight interceptions before losing the starting job.

The University of Michigan did not immediately return a call seeking confirmation that O'Korn has officially joined the team.
