Man Found Dead In Front Of Home After Shooting In Macomb Township; Suspect In Custody

MACOMB TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- One man is dead and another is in custody Monday morning after a fatal shooting in Macomb Township.

Sheriff Anthony Wickersham confirmed that deputies responded to 911 calls that someone had been shot at a residence on the 45000 block of Lone Pine Dr. near M-59 and Heydenreich at around 9 a.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the victim of the shooting -- a 31-year-old man -- lying in the snow in front of the home who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have taken a 76-year-old man into custody.

Wickersham said that the suspect lived in the house on Lone Pine Dr. along with his granddaughter and her three children. Wickersham said the victim was the father of those three kids.

"What we know about what may have transpired out there is that the victim has three children living at that address with their mother. He came there to pick up one of the children for visitation, at which time the 76-year-old male exited the home armed with a handgun and shots were heard," Wickersham said.

The suspect could be arraigned as soon as Tuesday. The incident remains under investigation.

The identity of the victim is being withheld until family members are notified.
