Bitterly Cold Weather To Persist Across Metro Detroit Into Weekend

DETROIT (WWJ) -  Forecasters say get used to this bone-chilling weather, because it's not going away any time soon.

Temperatures moderated from Sunday and Monday's deep freeze, with readings Tuesday morning ranging from 8 below zero in Monroe to right around zero at Detroit Metro Airport.

"We're only going to climb into the low 20s or right around 20 later on Tuesday afternoon here in Detroit," said CBS 62 Chief Meteorologist Jim Madaus. "It's well below our normal of the mid-30s for this time of year."

Scattered snow showers will pass through the region overnight and into Wednesday morning.

"On Wednesday, temperatures start tumbling again with just 14 your high," said Madaus. "The low Thursday morning is 2 below zero with a high of only 7. And then Friday morning, it will be somewhere between 8 and 10 below zero, with 11 your high."

This weekend, temperatures will hold steady in the mid-20s, but we could see one to three inches of new snowfall.
