Roseville Woman Sells Breast Milk On Craigslist To Bodybuilders, Anyone Seeking It For 'Health Reasons'

By Christy Strawser
A lot of adults would say they've never been thirsty enough to try something like this -- wouldn't do it trapped in the desert on the hottest day of the year after a zombie apocalypse.

Others are giving "got milk?" a whole new meaning.

Bodybuilders are reportedly turning to nutrient-rich breast milk as a way to capture fats, complex carbohydrates and protein, and it's becoming a booming business.

A Roseville, Mich., woman named Lisa is trying to capitalize on the trend by offering on craigslist to sell her breast milk at a negotiable price. No "wet nurse" fetishists need apply.

The description says this: "I have a 5 month old and have been constantly pumping excess breast milk which I have been storing and my deep freezer is nearly overloaded. I do not drink, or do drugs, and I take a multi-vitamin daily." She hasn't had any takers yet.

Lisa said she got the idea to sell breast milk from a bodybuilder cousin, who told her it's a great way for serious athletes to get protein.

"I didn't want it to go to waste," she said. "I was talking to my cousin and he says sometimes putting breast milk in a protein shake is better than the protein shake itself."

And in case you're wondering, she has tasted the product to see what's it all about. "It tastes like regular milk, except sweet, like you dumped sugar into regular milk and that what it tastes like," Lisa said.

While some experts caution against possibly buying breast milk tainted by bacteria on the Web, body builder forums all over the Internet tout its benefits for bulking up.

One forum on bodybuilding.com calls breast milk the "greatest supplement ever" and a user named Lefticle says it's the cornerstone of his diet. He points to a fellow lifter who has used his girlfriend's five pregnancies to unfairly gain advantage over his competitors.

Supporters argue that human growth hormone is in greatest supply in breast milk, and the nutrients that support a growing baby also work to support healthy adults. The website onlythebreast.com has milk classified ads devoted to nursing mothers selling breast milk to other mothers; There's a category for adult men, too.

Some of the men describe health needs they believe breast milk can cure, like psoriasis, while others say they're training for marathons or body building competitions. Some seekers are obviously more of the fetish variety, and one man is looking for breast milk he can turn into breast milk yogurt.

"Don't judge me," one user cautions.
