4,300 Pounds Of Pork Sausage Products Recalled In Michigan

BAY CITY (WWJ/AP) - Officials say a Michigan-based business is recalling about 4,300 pounds of pounds of pork sausage products that were sold across the state.

The recall by Bay City-based Michigan Brand Inc. was announced due to a mislabeling error and an undeclared allergen.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service says the products contain hydrolyzed soy protein, which is not declared on the labels. The problem was discovered when an inspector was reviewing labels and noticed that the soy ingredient wasn't on the ingredients list.

There have been no reports of illness or adverse reactions.

The following products are subject to recall: All bear production dates of 6/6/14 to 2/17/15 on the label.

  • 6 oz. packages of "Michigan Brand Teriyaki Hunter Sausage"
  • 6 oz. packages of "The Jerky Outlet Teriyaki Hunter Sausage"
  • 14 oz. packages of "Michigan Brand Teriyaki Hunter Sausage"
  • 14 oz. packages of "The Jerky Outlet Teriyaki Hunter Sausage"
  • 40 count boxes of "The Jerky Outlet Teriyaki Hunter Sausage"

.
The products bear the establishment number "Est. 10306" inside the USDA mark of inspection, and have production dates of 6/6/14 to 2/17/15 on the label. The products have a shelf life of one year from the date of production. The products were shipped to retail outlets and distributors in Michigan.

Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider. Consumers with questions should contact Michigan Brand, Inc. at 989-859-0081.
