Northern Michigan County Implements System To Track High-Risk People
PETOSKEY (AP) - Two agencies in Emmet County are implementing tracking systems to locate at-risk individuals with diseases or disorders when they wander away from caregivers.
The program, called Care Trak, will be used by the Emmet County Sheriff's Office and Emmet County Search and Rescue Team. Randolph Bricker Sr., director of the search and rescue team, says it will help track people suffering from Alzheimer's disease and children with special needs, such as Autism and Down syndrome.
The agencies will be able to locate high-risk people equipped with a watch-like transmitter if they get lost.
Care Trak has been used to quickly locate and rescue thousands of people since the system was introduced in 1986.
Emmet County is in the northern Lower Peninsula.
