Could You Survive A Zombie Apocalypse? A Grosse Pointe Seminar Will Prepare You

GROSSE POINTE FARMS (WWJ) -- The zombies are coming -- could you make it out alive?

That is the premise of a special seminar on Saturday at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial. Instructor Nick DiCresce says it is really just a way to learn survival skills -- like how to purify water and how to make a fire -- that everyone should know.

"It's kind of tongue in cheek, it's going to be a lot of fun with it -- we're not seriously thinking that people are going to be zombies really walking around," DiCresce said. "It's kind of cool because a lot of the training will give you some real good survival stuff -- whether it's a flood, earthquake or a tornado."

DiCresce said that survival skills are a must -- especially during this cold time of year -- and that the zombie survival program is a fun way to teach it.

"We will definitely give you things to be more prepared and to help you in those instances, but at the same time there will be a lot of fun stuff in there too with getting to shot zombies with bow and arrows," DiCresce said. "The way you've got to kill a zombie is you've got to shoot them in the head, so we basically have got these styrofoam mannequin heads that you buy at a beauty supply shop."

The class runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is $60 person for the course and materials.
