Mom, Boyfriend To Stand Trial In Death Of 7-Year-Old Boy Who Weighed Only 27 Pounds

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - A Detroit judge has ordered a 22-year-old woman and her 28-year-old boyfriend to stand trial on first-degree murder and torture charges in the death of the woman's 7-year-old son, who weighed only 27 pounds.

Detroit District Judge Shannon Holmes ruled Thursday that there's probable cause to send Victoria Foster and Cory Rimson to trial in the death of Foster's son, Immanuel. Their first hearing in trial court is scheduled March 13.

Rimsom, Foster's live-in boyfriend, told investigators he took Immanuel to the Henry Ford Hospital emergency room on Oct. 24 after the boy complained of abdominal pain and lost consciousness. Immanuel was dead on arrival and suspicious doctors notified police.

According to investigators, Immanuel was covered "from head to toe" with bruises and abrasions consistent with child abuse. Other details on the case have not yet been released, including a cause of death.

Authorities have since removed two other children, ages 2 and 3, from the couple's west side home, in the 2200 block of Richton. Both appeared to be healthy.
