Domino's Offers Smart Watch Pizza Ordering

By Edward Cardenas

ANN ARBOR (CBS Detroit) - Pizza customers used to monitor their watches to see if Domino's would deliver their order in 30 minutes, now they can use the next generation of watches to place an order.

The Ann Arbor-based company has introduced mobile ordering from Pebble and Android Wear smartwatches.

"Pairing Domino's with smartwatch technology couldn't be more of a natural fit," said Kevin Vasconi, Domino's Pizza chief information officer, in a release. "We are constantly looking for ways to use technology to enhance our customers' experience and provide them with more convenience. We pride ourselves on having a variety of online ordering options for customers to choose from."

Pebble and Android Wear smartwatch users must have Domino's app for their smartwatch, along with a Pizza Profile with a saved Easy Order or recent order, to utilize the feature.

With just a few taps on the app, and a swipe, customers can place an order. Once the order is placed, customers can then track the progress of their order with the Domino's Tracker feature through the app. The tracker shows the order from the time it is taken, to when it is placed in the oven and when it is ready for delivery or carryout.

This is the latest technological advancement for Domino's, which offers mobile ordering through smart phones, a virtual assistant and pizza tracking on smart televisions.
