By Edward Cardenas

SOUTHFIELD (CBS Detroit) - Samsung Electronics has unveiled their new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge smart phones which include new designs, new camera and faster charging at the Mobile World Congress in Spain.

The new smart phones feature a 5.1 inch screen with glass on the back of the device with metal edges in four different colors, according to CNET, which previewed the devices.

"With the all new Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung is offering what's next in mobility, along with a new standard to drive the global mobile agenda," said JK Shin, CEO and Head of IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, according to a release. "By listening to our customers, and learning from both our success and missteps, we continuously push forward new technologies and ideas. With a reimagined design, robust partner network and novel services, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge offer users the ultimate experience in smartphone options."

The new phones will be available globally starting April 10, and will come in 32, 64, 128 GB storage options and will come in white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum, blue topaz for the Galaxy S6 and Green Emerald for the Galaxy S6 edge only.

The Galaxy S6 edge offers a curved display on the both sides, while both phones feature high-resolution sensors on both 5MP front, and 16MP rear, cameras with auto teal-time high dynamic range (HDR), smart optical image stabilization (OIS) and a new "Quick Launch" feature that gives users fast, direct access to the camera from any screen in just 0.7 seconds by simply double clicking the home key button.

Both phones also feature wireless charging and wired charging which can provide four hours of usage after only 10 minutes of charging.

Samsung is joining Apple in offering a mobile pay service. Samsung Pay will launch on Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in the United States during the second half of 2015. It will utilize fingerprint scanning - something also offered on Apple iPhones - and works with both near field communication (NFC) and magnetic secure transmission (MST) technologies.

While the new phone offers new features, the S6 and S6 Edge no longer offer a removable battery and a microSD card slot available in earlier models, according to CNET.
