School Bus Service In Ann Arbor Stalled With A Dozen Out Sick

ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - A dozen school bus drivers called in sick in Ann Arbor Monday morning.

A school recording said that Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD) was not able to meet bus service Monday.

Although there was an exception --children in special education or preschool were to be picked up as scheduled.

Service in Ypsilanti has not been interrupted.

Washtenaw ISD Superintendent Scott Menzel said an investigation is ongoing.

The Ann Arbor News reports it's the second day this school year with a similar notification. On Jan. 8, at least three dozen Washtenaw Intermediate School District bus employees called in sick, prompting schools to close.

Ann Arbor notified the Washtenaw Intermediate School District in late January that it wouldn't renew its contract for bus service.
