Tigers Announce 2015 Special Events Schedule, Ticket Packages

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers announced Tuesday the lineup of special events, special ticket and merchandise packages for the 2015 season.

Returning special events include: Kids Opening Day (April 19); 21st Annual Negro Leagues Tribute Game (April 25); 45th Annual Polish-American Night (May 22); 5th Annual Classic Car Show (June 13); Christmas in July (July 21); 10th Annual ¡Fiesta Tigres! (August 8); "Pink Out the Park" (September 18), and the ever-popular Stars Wars Night (September 19). The Tigers will host 10 fireworks shows, presented by Pepsi on every Friday night from May 22-September 25, weather permitting. Six editions of Saturday Night Fireworks will happen from July 18-September 26, presented by Pepsi, weather permitting. Sunday Kids Days will also return in 2015, featuring the "Every Kid, Every Sunday" Giveaway Guarantee where every child 14-and-under will receive a free promotional item. In addition, Kids Days will feature free rides for kids on the Fly Ball Ferris Wheel and Carousel courtesy of Kroger, free face painting, and Kids Run the Bases following the game, weather permitting.

New in 2015, the Tigers will introduce the "Championship Jersey Series" where fans can purchase a special event package that includes a game ticket and either a replica Al Kaline, Alan Trammell or 1945 World Series Champions jersey. The club is also partnering with local institutes of higher learning for "FOX Sports Detroit University Days" which will feature a special ticket package that includes a game ticket and a Tigers cap in the colors of Central Michigan University, Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, Oakland University or the University of Michigan. Returning for 2015 is the "Class Outside Educational Series" featuring a special pregame educational presentation prior to a Tigers game.

Individual game tickets for the 2015 Detroit Tigers season go on sale Saturday, March 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Fans will have the opportunity to purchase single game tickets at the Comerica Park Box Office on Witherell Street, online at tigers.com, and by calling 866-66-TIGER (84437).

Class Outside Educational Series
The Detroit Tigers Class Outside Educational Series combines Common Core Standards and classroom curriculum with the sport of baseball through special presentations, followed by a Tigers game at Comerica Park. A special ticket much be purchased to attend the Class Outside Educational Series events, which begin three hours prior to game time.

This special pre-game workshop focuses on careers in Professional Sports including media relations, marketing, sponsorship, broadcasting, ballpark operations, and sales! Listen to real people talk about real jobs and real life experiences in professional sports. Past events have features speakers from the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, FOX Sports Detroit, CBS Radio, and other partner organizations.

Math Day
Thursday, April 23
More and more, mathematics plays into the way General Managers, journalists, and fantasy sports enthusiasts evaluate the performance of professional athletes. Join the Tigers as we discuss the math behind baseball, and how it is used to make your favorite teams better. This presentation covers the following elements of math and how it is applied in baseball: Sabermetrics, Statistics, Geometry, Ratios and Algebra.

Weather Day
Thursday, May 14
Join the Tigers and learn about the science behind Michigan weather and why it acts the way it does. In addition, we'll discuss how these weather changes can affect our lives and Detroit Tigers baseball. Weather Day will feature several special weather related demonstrations and experiments.

Space Day
Thursday, May 21
Michigan has a very special role in the history of space exploration. Many former NASA astronauts are Michigan natives (and baseball fans!). Join the Tigers as we explore our universe and galaxy, from the perspective of an astronaut, utilizing the giant HD Comerica Park videoboard. Guests from The Michigan Science Center will be on hand to discuss the wonders of space. Past guest speakers have included former NASA Astronauts Dr. Jerry Linenger and Dr. Michael Massimino.

Journalism Day
Thursday, June 4
Learn about careers in journalism from the people who cover the Detroit Tigers for radio, television, print and other news outlets. This year's presentation will also include a discussion regarding the emergence of social media as an important journalistic medium in professional sports.
