Tigers Poke Fun At Kevin Rand's Fall; Make Chalk Outline On The Field [PHOTO]

The Tigers were taking on the Astro's at Joker Marchant Stadium in Lakeland on Sunday afternoon and something didn't seem quite right on the mound.  Detroit reliever Joaquin Soria was pitching and despite being the only reliever on the day not to give up a run, he still needed assistance on the mound.

Considering Soria struggled and got injured after joining the Tigers last season there might have been a bit of reason for concern when both manager Brad Ausmus and trainer Kevin Rand were forced out of the dugout and to the mound to check on what turned out to be a blister on the right handers thumb.

And now for the humor, only one of the men made it to the mound without incident.

Ausmus made it but Rand didn't as he fell on the way out in front of about five thousand fans.  Ausmus turned, looked and laughed and the crowd joined him.

Of course a fall like that was not to be forgotten anytime soon as mystery members of the Tigers documented it with white baseball chalk and then cautioned it off so everybody in attendance could see it on Monday morning.

The good news for Rand was that his fall reminder was erased before the Tigers played the Blue Jays on Monday afternoon.  The good news for me was I was able to snap a photo of it…

Kudo's to whoever was responsible for the outline.  Very funny!
