Tigers starter Alfredo Simon is a pretty interesting guy.

Simon will be in the Detroit rotation and while he's already pitched in the Big Leagues for seven seasons, Tiger fans probably don't know very much about him since he's only played in the National League.

So let me tell you a couple of things that might surprise you.

Simon has 5 pitches, including something that he calls a "slow split." It's like a high 50's to low 60 mph pitch that looks a lot like an eephus. Simon just started throwing it last season and likes it because it basically screws with hitters. It's a nice change a pace to throw it after a fastball to get guys off balance. Simon also admits that nobody ever hits it and did genuinely seem surprised that more pitchers don't throw it. He probably gets some pretty strange looks from opposing hitters.

Of course it also needs to be known that Simon drives chrome Mercedes s63 AMG. It's a pretty sweet ride that is definitely one of a kind and he knows it. And, let's not forget about his unique nickname as people affectionately refer to him as "Big Pasta"!"

Check out the video to find out if Simon's Mercedes is cooler than one of Justin Verlander's cars or even Yoenis Cespedes's fire breathing Lamborghini? Simon also talks about his unique nickname and how he got it.
