Law Firm In Detroit's Bankruptcy Will Open Office In City

DETROIT (AP) - The out-of-state law firm that guided Detroit through bankruptcy is opening an office in the city.

Jones Day says it will open on July 1. The office will be led by Timothy Melton, a Wayne State University law school graduate now with the firm in Chicago.
Jones Day lawyers handled Detroit's bankruptcy. Kevyn Orr was an attorney at the firm before becoming the city's emergency manager, a job he held until December.

Managing partner Steve Brogan says expansion in Detroit is a sign of the firm's "continuing commitment" to the city and region.

Jones Day's website says it doesn't have an official headquarters. Its largest office is in New York.
