Police Investigate Apparent Murder In Trenton; City's First In A Decade

TRENTON (WWJ) - A murder-mystery is rocking a Downriver city that hasn't recorded a single homicide in the past decade.

Police say the body of a 65-year-old man was discovered around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday inside his home at the Westwood Condominiums on Daniel Drive, off of Fort Street just south of West Road.

The man has been identified in reports as George Hite. Officers found his body while responding to a welfare check at the residence.

Authorities have revealed few other details, but say the case is being investigated as a homicide. A cause of death was not immediately clear.

No arrests have been made and information of a possible suspect has not yet been released.

An investigation is ongoing.

The last murder in Trenton was recorded in 2005, according to reports.
