'Poop Scouts' Picks Up After Your Dogs So You Don't Have To

ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) -- This company takes pride in being number one when it comes to number two.

The spring snow melt has unearthed a mess in area yards, specifically dog droppings that have been buried all winter. The company Poop Scouts in St. Clair Shores serves the east side and this is one of their busiest times of year.

Doug Morocco explained how they charge their customers.

"We charge on our bulk cleanups based on the volume of poop that we scoop, ranging from $35 for small dogs per five-gallon bucket down to $25 for larger dogs per five-gallon bucket," Morocco said. "Larger dogs will fill up a bucket much faster than a Chihuahua."

Morocco said that they are currently getting dozens of calls and emails from people anxious to have clean yards for spring.

"We've been fielding probably four or five calls per hour, 20 or 30 emails a day," Morocco said. "Everybody's got the same situation."

Morocco said that homeowners can do the cleanup themselves with a shovel, but advises to wait until all of the snow is melted.

"This poop is our family business and it's hard to discipline the kids when they're talking about poop, when we're in the business that we're in," Morocco said.
