Detroit Grand Prix Looking For Volunteers Ahead Of May Races

DETROIT (WWJ) -- Summer is just around the corner, which means not only the return of the Detroit Tigers for baseball fans, but also the Belle Isle Grand Prix for racing fans.

As Belle Isle gets set to host the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix at the end of May, event organizers are looking for volunteers to help make the race another world-class experience.

Areas that are in need of volunteers range from circuit marshals, customer relations, food services, chalet services, information booths, track services, ticket scanners, transportation/delivery services and ushers.

"Without question, our volunteers at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix are the best in the business. They are true ambassadors of our event and they are first ones to welcome people when they arrive at the Grand Prix and the last ones fans see on their way off the island," Chairman Bud Denker said.

There is also a $15 membership fee which includes benefits such as credentials for each day of the Grand Prix, a uniform, membership patch, free off-island parking and access to pre and post-event parties.

Volunteers are required to commit a minimum of 25 hours during race weekend (or in advance of the event) that will be divided into shifts depending on the volunteer area.

To become a member of the Detroit Grand Prix Association and volunteer for this year's event, you can visit the event's website.
